Michigan SKKI Demo - 2012 @ Ostego Resort in Gaylord Michigan.  If you want to try the SKKI this year and you were not able to attend the SKKI Inn at Snow basin in Utah, this is your best chance.

I own 2 SKKIs that I will bring.  There are 3 rentals available at the resort, and we believe now after some conflicting info that the rental  cost will be the same as for renting just skiis with no poles, $30 for the day, and for those that have already learned the trikke SKKI the rental is complimentary for one day only. 

Lift tickets are $60 for one day, or $100 for a 2 day pass, you can do an add on day for $50 if you later want to add one more day to your original ticket.

The resort does not usually open til noon on Fridays as Egan reminded us on Facebook, but there is an exception for Friday the 24th as they just posted winter break hours, and they are opening the slopes at 9am, and open for breakfast starting at 8am, so I changed the time for the meetup to 8am, since that is the earliest you should show up at the resort, but make it when you can.  They serve breakfast until 11am I was told - Also, The River Cabin at the resort will have food for lunch - it is at the bottom of lift #5, see it on the alpine trail map 

You can be a guest of Egan, if you want to come up and stay in town at the Baymont hotel or the HI Express for example.  Friday the 24th is not a public day, however, with being able to be Egan's guest once per year, that should not be an issue.  Thanks Egan!

You can also call [masked] ext. 455 and ask about the Trial Run Membership, and then you are a trial member until March 31st 2012, and can SKKI for 2 days included, while your family does traditional skiing..  $395 for that according to their website, so it may not be cost effective unless you were planning a family ski trip anyway, but it does include lift tickets for 2 days, but does not cover skki rental or lodging, and says that you need to purchase a minimum of 2 nights lodging at the resort to use the membership..  You can also use the trial membership all the way through March though - but per Egan, the last Skii day is March 24th.  Considering all things though, I am back to just wanting to stay at the Baymont Hotel in Gaylord this year, and drive to the resort.  It is only a bit more than a mile or so up the road.
